Steve was facing an issue with music piracy. In April 2003, apple launched an internet-based music selling called IPod that could play only I-Tune downloads. The invention of iPod was a smashing hit and it facilitated the organization to increase its revenues from US$ 5.3 billion in 2001 to US$ 13.9 billion in 2005 (Lampel et al. 2013). The researcher has provided the mental model and 3p analysis on Steve jobs to discuss his technocrat nature. In this scenario, the researcher has analyzed his leadership trait by relating the case study about the innovation of apple i-pod. Mental Model: Steve Jobs was one of the most innovative personalities in the world who have shaped the world of technology in various ways. The hard working ability and the genius mentality have provided him the immense success. Job was not an open book. The conservative mentality has made him a perfect technocrat in the technical world. His dedication towards the innovation has facilitated him to reframe the models. The art of mental innovation has been accomplished through recognizing the true talent. He always believed in the team effort and hence, his innovation included several strategies. This conservative and serious nature of Steve jobs made him a technocrat personality (Lampel et al. 2013). Theoretical domain Critical evaluation: 3ps of Steve Jobs: Practice: The focus of Steve jobs was to introduce better technology in the market. At the initial stages, Steve had to face many difficulties in terms of getting the proper outcome from the Apple. The monotonous market of the technology made Steve to think out of the box. Through the engagement of hard routine and innovative approaches, Steve achieved immense success in the world of technology. Steve was a conservative personalities and he wanted others to follow his process to bring modern technology in the market. Therefore, this type of personality made him a technocrat (Lampel et al. 2013). Practitioners: Steve always believed on the team performance. He thought that without having proper group, an innovation could not be done. Steve always believed that the strength of the team facilitate in making innovation. His leadership trait has helped the Apple to make innovative technology. On the contrary, it has been said that without getting support from the genius team workers, Steve could not be able to build this huge empire in the world of technology. Steve has analyzed each department to innovate something different for the society. We can observe his selfless dedication and flawless effort on every aspect of the innovation. For example, he hired Jonathan Ive for the designing of the products of Apple. However, his arrogant nature has mistreated his leadership trait in the business (Lampel et al. 2013). His methodical approach towards any innovation has made him a perfect technocrat personality. He believed in the no-nonsense performance. Steve always made analytical approach towards any objective for getting better response from the customers. Praxis: Steve was very careful and precise toward his work. He often described that the innovative process of Apple includes several team approaches and strategies for getting better outcome from the business. On the other hand, his approaches towards the innovation have different negative impacts. The ex-employees of the Apple have made an allegation on his leadership trait. They said that Steve was unable to extract the best performance out of the team. It made a negative impact on his innovative approaches. Steves intense and serious attitude towards the technology made him a perfect technocrat. For example, Steve hired skilled people for the designing of the products so that it could make better impact in the market. He relied in consensus building approach. The leadership style of Steve was complex and he was focused on his commitment. Through the engagement of innovative approach, Steve has changed the shape of the technology. Lampel et al. (2013) have argued that the aggressive nature of Steve has affected the team performance. Sometimes, He failed to achieve the proper objectives from the best team. He did not clarify the goals publically. Steve Jobs believed in team works. He had built a team for the innovation of iPod. Therefore, it suggests his craziness about innovative technology. He has followed some principals such as focus, simplicity, elegance, innovation, authenticity, vision, certitude, tenacity etc. these factors have provided success in the world of technology. Strategist and leadership profile: Leadership is an essential part of the success in the business and iPod was not exceptional to that. The leadership style of Steve has helped the organization to accumulate large amount of profit from the market. Leadership generates the extra energy to the workers so that the workforce could be improved There are some factors of his leadership style such as: Hard lesson: Steve always believed in learning lessons from the failure. Initially the pricing of the iPod was aggressive and hence, it could not achieve the desire target. Therefore, Steve adjusted the pricing of the products. Maintain the brand value: Steve had built a team for innovation of iPod. He believed in maintaining the brand value in the market. Moreover, he recruited Jonathan Ive for the designing of the products. Therefore, it reflects his efforts in maintain the branding of the products in the market Long vision to the future: He had a long vision towards the innovation. When the entire music industry was battling with the piracy, the first response came from apple in 2001. In 2003, apple launched internet based music selling initiative named ITunes. Therefore, his vision has facilitated to implement new initiatives in the market. Steves serious approach towards the innovation of I-pod made him a perfect technocrat. (Lampel et al. 2013). An analysis on Steve jobs technocrat nature: Steve was one of the most brilliant leaders who always believe in hard work to achieve a particular goal. For example, in this scenario, Steve had a challenge to innovate an audio device that could be smashing hit in the market. Steve was very conservative for his work and therefore, he built a team for accomplishing his goal in a proper manner. He was not an artist or the Craftsman as he has shown his argumentative nature at the work place. Consequently, he lost his job from Apple. Although he is arrogant and conservative, his genius thinking towards the innovation has made him a perfect technocrat. He always tried to catch the best performer for the work and he had collected bunch of genius people who have supported him to achieve his objective in the world of technology. Serious nature and the highly professional moral have made Steve a perfect technocrat. Conclusion: The efforts of Steve jobs have helped to bring better technology in the market. Maximum business leaders would be excited to achieve Steves level of success. Steve jobs did not have the skilled knowledge in technology but he has built the empire in the modern technology. In this context, the researcher has provided the detail analysis of the leadership profile of Steve jobs.
